On one hand , I agree that the United Sates needs to reinforce the borders to protect the citizens against any kind of terrorism. But, on the other hand, I still insist that the real threat are not the 12 million illegal or undocumented immigrants who are here to be providers for their families and the chance for a better future. First, because of the action, some, not all the immigrants should be labeled as a problem for this country. Before the terrorist attacks of 9/11, the US Congress compromised to attend the need for an immigration reform, which would have allowed the 12 million undocumented immigrants to have a path to become legal residents (Pawlick and Finley). Since the attacks on the world trade center, the US Congress stepped back their decisions and legislation against immigrants its being on the ascent as well as the support for the laws (Pawlick and Finley). It will only make sense to legalize the 12 million undocumented immigrants that way the corresponding agencies would take care of the real terrorists who want to compromise the security of the United States Security (Pawlick and Finley).Secondly, in 1996 the 287 g law became effective. This law gave the police officers the ability to work as immigration agents. Since then, States like North Carolina have been deporting illegal immigrants just because they can't show a driver license (Policias). I think this really doesn't help either the security of this nation or the immigrants. Policy to legalize the illegal immigrants should be a priority for the government, so the laws could be aimed to real the threats and to fight the real terrorist. In a recent interviewed the police agencies from North Carolina decided to give their full support for legalization of the undocumented immigrants; by doing this, they think the community would be safer and the agencies would be able to go full force against the real criminals and terrorists (Policias). Philosopher Binswanger states " The desire of freedom and economic supply and demand are the driving forces behind immigration" ( Pawlick and Finley).
